About . . .

The Kingston School of Art is a non-profit organization formed when St. Lawrence College closed its Fine Arts Program in 1994.  Teachers and students of the program collaborated with the arts community to raise funds to purchase the printmaking equipment from the college and keep valuable, community oriented art courses in the Kingston area.
Governed by a community based volunteer Board of Directors, the School is totally self-sufficient.  Fundraising, membership fees, student fees and donations are the School's major supports.  People involved in the School do so because they recognize the importance of art and believe that fine arts programming should be available to the Kingston community. Volunteers are welcome!

The School's mission is:

  • to provide cost-effective year-round art classes within a supportive environment
  • to have studio-based hands-on instruction and provide practical artistic experiences
  • to help foster artistic individuality
  • to cultivate an appreciation of art within our community

Office hours: Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Messages are picked up regularly, calls are returned and e-mails replied to.

Memberships
Annual memberships ($30) renew in September of each year. Members get:

  • decreased course fees
  • a discount when purchasing art supplies at Wallack's on Princess Street
  • mailings of the term course brochures and KSOA newsletter

In addition, members may submit art for the members' Art Shows.
