I am a recent graduate of Queen’s University’s Bachelor of Education program and an alumnus of California College of the Arts where I majored in Sculpture and Visual Studies. My fascination with various art forms has inspired me to explore and work with a variety of mediums and processes such as pencil, pen, charcoal drawing, water-color, acrylic painting, woodworking, metalworking, throwing/pottery, wax casting, plaster casting, glass casting, sewing, knitting, and welding. I believe that learners construct knowledge and meaning for themselves and teachers should be facilitators and co-learners. I cannot wait to embark on my new teaching and learning journey with the young artists who are joining us at the KSOA this Fall!

I am a perceptual realist based in Kingston, Ontario. I mainly focus on contemporary genre scenes of people and life in Canada. Regional nature experiences are my main inspiration, although my work includes series based on regular visits to Latin countries such as Portugal and Spain. Since graduating from the Queen’s University Bachelor of Fine Art program in 1989 I have been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions. My work has won various awards, including a “Best Painting in Show” award at Toronto’s Outdoor Art Exhibition. My works are included in private and corporate collections in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe. - Maureen Sheridan Instructor

After 38 years of teaching Fine Art and Design within school boards I have decided to channel my energies into the greater community. Teaching and community are my passion. I was the recipient of the Mayor's Arts Champion Award for the City of Kingston in November 2018. I created, directed and taught the Creative Arts Focus Program for the LDSB for 30 years. I look forward to working with everyone in this new adventure!
