Watercolour Explorations! with Marta Scythes ~ The Helen Stannard Memorial Fundraising Workshop
Help support the Kingston School of Art (KSOA)....join Marta for a fun and informativewatercolour painting workshop. Several techniques will be demonstrated and basic colour schemes explored. Subjects will vary, but landscape will be the focus. Suitable for any level.
- small sketch pad or blank journal, pencil, eraser
- any watercolour paints, papers, brushes you have.
- white paper towels, white mixing palette, masking tape
- 2 plastic water containers, small plywood board (8x12” or so)

Marbling Basics - Bethany Garner
In this one-day workshop, students will explore easy to use marbling paints and work at layering the paints onto the surface of a pre-mixed, thickened gel (carrageenan) paint delivery system in a shallow pan. Students will learn to create their own marbling set-up at home following their full day of Marbling play. Prints will be made on the pre-cut sample fabric and paper included in the kit fee.
Materials: There is a $15 Materials Fee included in the workshop fee (total $70) to cover handouts and the marbling supplies and auxiliaries used. The course guide with optional materials is available on the KSOA website. http://www.ksoa.info/material-lists.html

Fun workshops using vibrant hot wax colours and putting it all together in a luminous painting. Try an encaustic iron or stylus, embed items, blend, gouge, build up layers. Try realistic, abstract, texture, collage, mixed media. You can easily become passionate about this medium! The creative possibilities are endless. Materials provided, but bring your own to embed or collage. NOTE: If you have specific items you want to embed in the wax, they must be completely dry.
Pictures must be on absorbent material. Cathie's workshops will return! Watch this space.
