Encore: Art Safari (Mondays from 9:30am - 12:30pm)
Nov. 29 Pen and Ink with Marta Scythes: Pen & Ink is considered a ‘drawing discipline,” and has a rich and long history in art, science and literature. Learn several line and textural ink techniques in this fun and relaxed workshop. Ink washes will also be explored and combined with pen techniques. A variety of subjects will be studied.
Dec. 6: Matisse Papercuts with Bethany Garner: Plan to come and play! Join Bethany Garner for a free form and fun-filled session of Improvisational Art Play as we explore the world of MATISSE. You will have time to explore the positive and negative space created when cutting a small collection of original shapes all the while preparing for creating a collage of your design using paper or fabric. With just a pair of small scissors and the furnished papers or fused cotton fabrics hand-dyed by Bethany, each piece will be individual and a joy to MAKE! A small mounting base of industrial felt will be shared for your small masterpiece.
Dec. 13: Printing: Stencils and Screens with Bethany Garner. In this class, our students will take turns printing on cloth using stencils and silk screens provided. We will use thickened dyes (print paste base) and have some fun creating small pieces of cloth art that can be stitched or wrapped/framed at home. A fun technique that will be sure to entice you to step into the fibre arts.
