Kingston School of Art is the longest-operating nonprofit community arts school in the area, facilitating opportunity for artists of "all ages and stages" to develop skills in visual arts through classes, workshops, and exhibitions.

KSOA is a charitable nonprofit and operates under the governance of a volunteer Board of Directors. We are seeking new Board Directors to support the growth, sustainability, and success of KSOA.

Requirements:

Passion for supporting the arts and the nonprofit sector of Kingston; Commitment to facilitating quality arts programming that is accessible, affordable, and upholds principles of EDI; Commitment of an average of 10 hours per month to KSOA and attending 6-8 Board meetings and events per year.

Details:
  • Board Directors are volunteers of KSOA and are nominated for the Board based on a letter of interest
  • Board Directors are elected by the General Membership at the Annual General Meeting
  • Election to the Board is for a two-year term, and Directors can serve up to three consecutive terms.
How to apply for the Board:

  • Send a letter of interest to the KSOA Board President at [email protected] by November 20, 2025.
  • The letter should provide the following information:
    • 1. Why are you interested in serving on the KSOA Board of Directors?
    • 2. Provide details about any previous Board experience, knowledge of nonprofit/charitable governance, and knowledge about the arts sector in Kingston.
    • 3. Provide details about any previous experience with fundraising, volunteer management, grant writing, finance, or Human Resources (these skills are not required but we are seeking to expand the Board's expertise in these key areas).
    • 4. Confirm that you are available to commit time (average of 10 hours per month) to the Board and to attending meetings and events.
