Winter Watercolours

Runs from February 4th - February 25


In this four week watercolour course, you will learn several techniques and processes while producing small, winter snow studies using a limited palette.


Composition and colour theory will be discussed and applied. Exercises will be demonstrated by the instructor. All levels welcome.

Supplies to be provided by student: 

PAINTS
Watercolour paints – tubes best (Blue & Burnt Sienna will be used a lot) Inexpensive, Staedtler, set of 12 tubes, Staples, approx. $ 14

BRUSHES
Any round brushes (#3, #10 +/or12 recommended) 1⁄2” or 3⁄4” flat brush, 1” flat hog/boar hair (Canadian Tire = $2.50) or at Art Noise: Marie’s (code G1751-1) long, grey handle = under 4$

Rigger/liner #6 (optional)
OR...
Instead of all of the above, these inexpensive brushes are fine:
Crayola sets = approx. $5.00each, (4 rounds, or 4 flats), at Staples or online

PAPERS
Good quality Cold Pressed, WC paper 140lb. block or pad (medium size) OR 140lb. Cold Pressed, WC paper – 22x30” sheet.

MISC: 1 or 2, approx.10x12” board(s) to tape paper down Masking tape – preferably not green. Large white palette or white plate. Small spray bottle. Water containers (2 large, plastic). Pencil, pen, eraser, ruler. ​Journal or small sketchpad ~ for notes/small exercises.
