Intro to Oil Painting Landscapes

Classes run: March 17 - April 28th (7 sessions)


An introductory class to harnessing the power, flexibility, and expression of oils when capturing a landscape. Utilize colour, your brush, and guided skills to create atmospheric pieces that touch the soul.


From a quiet street to a misty forest to a wondrous mountainscape, see what you can make with the stroke of your brush (or palette knife!) All courses are priced at $15/hr for instruction to keep art accessible.

Supplies to be provided by student:  ​
  • Palette paper 
  • Oil paints (at least the following colours: titanium white, yellow ochre, viridian green, aquamarine blue, purple, burnt umber, vermillion red (or another similar red), and a brighter yellow - additional colours are welcome as well)
  • Brushes (at least 3 different sizes are recommended)
  • Gamsol oil with a small jar with a lid - linseed oil is also recommended but not required 
  • 2 smaller canvases around 9x12 and/or 11x14
  • 1 larger canvas/canvas paper/wooden panel of choice
  • highly recommended: palette knives
