Hours: Camps run for eight weeks in July and August, from 9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Before and After Care is available from 8:30 - 9 a.m. and 4:30 -5:00 pm $10/half hour per child.
Food and clothing: Each day children will have a morning and afternoon snack along with a lunch. Please provide a PEANUT FREE lunch and snacks. Include in your child’s bag: water bottle, sunscreen, hat, bathing suit, towel, a change of clothes, and a reusable bag for taking home finished art projects. Children are asked to wear clothes to camp that they can make a mess in and closed toed shoes! Please DO NOT send your child in special occasion/ fancy clothes and sandals/flip flops.
Activities: Depending on weather (extreme humidity or thunderstorms/heavy rain) we will be eating lunch and spending outdoor time at Memorial Park and Splash Pad almost every day of camp. At the end of every day, counsellors provide face/arm painting to campers! This is a little treat we try to include to make every day a little more special. Face painting paints are hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin.
All artwork that is completed and dry will be sent home the same day. Please ensure you send a reusable bag to transport finished art projects home and to bring it back the next day. The KSOA’s goal is to complete between 3-5 projects a day! We create projects using pencil, charcoal, oil and chalk pastels, collage, acrylic painting, watercolour painting, modeling clay, printmaking, fibre art, and anything else we can use!
Disrespectful behaviour and bullying is NOT tolerated. If your child continues to display these disruptive behaviours, the KSOA reserves the right to ask the parent to pick up the child and could result in asking the child to not return. The KSOA prides itself in providing and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all children and staff to the best of our abilities.
Registrations: The minimum number of campers a day is 5 and maximum number of campers a day is 15, so spots are limited. First come first served. In order to secure your child’s spot, payment must be made within 7 days of registration. If no payment is received within the first few days, we will send an email notifying you before the 7 days are up. If no payment is received your child will be removed from the list and their spot will be open to another potential camper.
Bursaries: There are a limited number of bursaries available this year to assist families sending a child to a summer art camp. To be eligible, the parent must have a My Kingston Card, which is available through Kingston's Municipal Fee Assistance Program.
If you have a My Kingston card, please contact the office for more details, at 613-549-1528.
