Drawing People
Working in dry media, students will create a series of studies of the human body. Through these they will develop an understanding of the forms and movement of the body, and learn to simplify the structures of the figure for compelling and effective drawings. Along with focusing on areas of the body in isolation, attention will be given to posing, posture, and a variety of body types. FULL Mondays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm | 25 April - 6 June Instructor: Floriana Ehninger-Cuervo |
Drawing the Portrait
This course focuses on capturing the most individualistic and expressive part of a person - the face! Working in dry media, students will first create studies to gain understanding of the structure of the face and head. We will wrap up with a finished portrait, for which students will be encouraged to bring their own reference. Mondays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm | 13 June - 27 June Instructor: Floriana Ehninger-Cuervo |
Drawing for Teens
Students will undertake a series of drawing projects using photos and still life as reference, working predominantly in graphite and colour pencil. The references will start simple and get more complex for a gradual intake of information. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and there is no expected amount of pieces they should finish. At the end of the course they’ll have some finished works under their belt, and have gained understanding and confidence on how to approach a drawing, regardless of subject matter. FULL Saturdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm | 16 April - 25 June Instructor: Floriana Ehninger-Cuervo |
Teen Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media
Imagination is the gateway to possibilities. At KSOA we encourage imagination, play, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We believe that every child is born with imagination and creativity. While basic drawing, painting, and mixed media skills are considered essential for developing young artists, we aim to not only pass on knowledge and skills but aim to nurture each and every young artist’s unique creative thoughts and acts. Participants are encouraged to think outside of the box, explore various drawing, painting, and sculpting techniques, manipulate materials, and express themselves through their own unique artistic lens. FULL Thursdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm | 28 April - 30 June Instructor: Dominika Dembinski |
