PAINTING

Painting & Drawing for Pleasure with Primrose Craig                    CLASS CLOSED

This relaxed 10 week course is perfect for anyone from beginners to the more advanced. Each week you will be given a demonstration in both drawing and painting on an assortment of subjects with the option to complete the project in either medium. Working with a variety of materials we will explore using textured papers and canvases.

Watercolour Landscapes "The Soft Touch" with Sally Chupick

This course is open to those new to watercolour or for those who want to expand their skills in handling the watercolour medium.  Sally will demomstrate her approach to watercolour and encourage experimentation of the process through small format class painting exercises.  Various watercolour techniques will be introduced, as well as the all important quest for finding that ‘mood’, and how to go about expressing it in your painting.

The Creative Impulse with Maureen Sheridan                CLASS CLOSED

This course is open to students of all levels who wish to advance their level of skill and creativity in painting. It is designed to make the student feel comfortable with the medium of acrylic and to explore possibilities. Instruction and demonstrations will include basic colour theory, mixing, handling of paint and brushes, and various painting techniques.

Landscape Painting in Oil for Beginners with Claire Grady-Smith           CLASS CLOSED

This is not your typical Bob Ross class! Students will bring in photographic references and learn how to build up depth with oil and mediums. Starting with a monochromatic underpainting, a clear procedure will be followed with lots of room for creative expression and personal style development.

Getting Started in Oil with Bruce St.Clair

If you've wanted to try oil painting, but thought it too daunting, this is the course for you. After composing a working drawing based on a photo reference of your choice, your painting will progress in three or four steps from a thin underpainting to the rich surface that is unique to oil. This course includes guidance in
compositional decisions and colour creation, with lots of personal assistance.

Oil Painting: The Next Step with Bruce St. Clair

In this intermediate course, we will continue the traditional approach to oil painting introduced in the “Getting Started” course. We'll go a little deeper into understanding light, colour and composition, and work on further developing technical skills such as brush handling for smooth blending, textures and details. You will also be encouraged to begin to discover your unique visual “voice” as an artist.

Watercolour Magic with Ron Pickering

This course will help you expand your life drawing skills by learning to capture the essence of the model as well as facial expressions. A fun and challenging class using unique models and a wide variety of materials.  Recommended for advanced students capable of working at a fast pace.

 Life Drawing in Pastel with Bruce St.Clair                                       CLASS CLOSED

Soft Pastel is wonderfully suited to human (figure/portrait) subject matter, combining the expressive action and immediacy of drawing with the glow of rich colour. Working mainly from life is a great way to broaden your artistic experience and fine tune your drawing and observational skills. Part of class time will include developing paintings from photo references, so dig out those great shots of friends and family!
This pastel painting course with Bruce St. Clair may be taken in whole or in parts, and welcomes beginners as well as the more experienced.

Sculpting with Clay with Primrose Craig

This course consists of instruction in modeling with water-based clay. During the course you will learn two different methods in how to create a full realistic figure or bust starting with using an armature to completing the figure in clay. Students will be introduced to various sculpting tools and materials that can be used in sculpting techniques through basic principles. Primrose will give demonstrations and offer individual attention throughout the class.
