The Kingston School of Art is an independently operated, registered charity
providing art education to Kingstonians of all ages and stages since 1994.

Our Story

Our Mission

The Kingston School of Art, a non-profit charitable organization, was formed in 1994.  Governed by a community based volunteer Board of Directors, the School is supported by fundraising, student fees, donations and grants.

People involved in the School recognize the importance of art and believe  that affordable fine arts programming should be available to the Kingston community. Volunteers are always welcome!
To provide year-round art programs within a supportive environment for people of all ages

To manage these programs within a non-profit service

To address financial barriers for participation

To offer programs in a studio-based environment with artists/tutors/masters for hands-on instruction and a practical artistic experience

To foster artistic individuality and innovation

To enhance the opportunities for the cultivation of art within our community

Funders

Visitor Policies

Kingston School of Art is funded and supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area, CIBC Wood Gundy, and the Davies Foundation.
The KSOA Board of Directors is committed to providing a safe environment for art, learning, and creativity, and believe that following all public health recommendations is essential to keep our community of artists and volunteers safe.

COVID-19 requires precautions to mitigate transmission and promote the health and safety of our students and communities at large. As a result, KSOA has undertaken the following safety measures:

  • Masking is encouraged and appreciated.
  • Reduced capacity to ensure that social distancing can be maintained.
  • Daily cleaning of studios, common spaces, and high-touch surfaces.
  • We strongly encourage all visitors and students to self-screen before visiting KSOA. You can find our recommended self-screening tool here.
  • Personal sanitization stations provided to every student in each studio.
  • Studios equipped with HEPA filters.
  • Respect of all KFL&A health measures.
  • Following international best practices for in-person instruction during a pandemic.
