Volunteers
Kingston School of Art is almost entirely volunteer-run, and we'd love to have you join us. There are many ways to become involved in the operations of the school and gallery. We aim to offer volunteer experiences that are mutually beneficial for our volunteers and our organisation.
Engagement & Education Committee
This team supports our wonderful instructors during their classes by providing 1:1 support, assisting with studio set-up and clean-up, and documenting classes. These positions are often filled by Practicum Students from Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College. A CPIC is required to work with our Youth Programming.
Marketing Committee
This team is responsible for assisting in the promotion of exhibitions, events, and classes. Additionally, volunteers provide support by distributing marketing materials, assisting with photography/videography, and writing exhibition reviews.
Installation Committee
This team supports exhibition installation and take-down. Additionally, volunteers prepare and paint the gallery, work with artists to install their artworks, and more!
Administrative Committee
This team is the front line of Kingston School of Art and Window Art Gallery, welcoming visitors during open hours and public events. Additionally, volunteers provide assistance with registering participants for classes, answering inquiries, and maintaining demographic tracking information.
Special Events & Fundraising Committee
This team is responsible for organizing our special events and fundraising initiatives, such as Paints & Pints, Makers Markets, Paint the Town, and Juried Exhibitions. Responsibilities include event management and logistics, assisting in marketing, collecting artwork donations, and more!.

The Kingston School of Art is currently looking for dynamic community members to serve on its Board of Directors. We are seeking to create a diverse board culture that closely matches the diversity of our community, and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
We are looking for community-minded individuals with an interest in visual art that want to help further the mission and goals of KSOA. Your experience in the private sector, past service on other boards, business, art education, marketing, human resources, fundraising or a variety of other activities can help contribute to the continued success of KSOA.
As a voluntary member of KSOA’s Board of Directors, responsibilities include:
As well, KSOA Board members attend regular monthly board meetings and participate in some committee work as appropriate to their area of expertise.
