Elementary Grades Programs
Printmaking: Portraits
Can be for: grades k - 8
Time frame: 2 hours
Cost: $225 for classes up to 25 students. $9 per additional student
Learn the basics of printmaking while also learning about all the shapes that make up you!
Students will start with a visit and mini-quest to talk about the current show in our Window Art Gallery. Program Educators will then guide students to our studios to explore and learn about what printmaking actually is, with an included lesson about facial proportions and how to observe and see how faces can be made! Students will get to etch their own sheet to make their own stamped portrait to take home, and teachers will get a collaborative "class picture" to take back to school!

Students will get to etch their own sheet to make their own finished piece to take home, and teachers will get a collaborative piece to take back to school! |
Oil Pastel Portraits
Can be for: grades 3 - 8
Time frame: 2 hours
Cost: $225 for classes up to 25 students. $9 per additional student
Explore this dreamy yet graphic medium using portraiture as your theme! Students will engage in topics including shapes, proportions, abstraction, and observation.
Students will start with a visit and mini-quest to talk about the current show in the Window Art Gallery. Program Educators will then guide students to our studios to experiment and learn about how to use oil pastels, and how to work from a first draft with pencil to a final abstracted self-portrait. A small lesson on facial proportions and observation will also be given.

Can be for: grades K - 8
Cost: $225 for classes up to 25 students. $9 per additional student
Colour us creative in this rainbow of a program! For this colour theory program, students will learn about basic colour theory, shapes, and the medium of oil pastels.
Students will start with a visit and a mini-quest to to talk about the current show in the Window Art Gallery. Program Educators will then lead students to our studios to experiment and learn about how colour theory works, then will be guided through a Wassily Kandinsky-inspired project to take home with them.

Students will start the program by exploring our Window Art Gallery and participating in a discussion about the current show being exhibited. After, Program Educators will lead the class back to our studios to start creating! Students will be given a brief lesson in facial proportions to help them start their rough drafts before learning proper safety precautions and how to use carving tools properly. The program will end with students taking home their own printed piece, and teachers will get a printed "class picture" for their classroom!
Note: this lesson can be changed to a regular lesson in linocut if portraiture is not an interest.

Meet one of our Artists and pick their brains about their art practice and their careers. This is ideal for students who are thinking about going into a career in the arts. Our roster of artists spans from stained glass artists to painters, printmakers, and illustrators.
Students will also be provided small sketchbooks and tools to do mini activities within our Window Art Gallery.
