Kingston School of Art is proud to present the 7th Annual Juried Exhibition & Sale in 2024.
KSOA's largest fundraiser of the year!

The exhibition will showcase over 60 artworks by artists aged 18 years and over from the City of Kingston, Wolfe Island and the Frontenac Islands, and the counties of Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, Leeds & Grenville, and Hastings, and will be held at the Window Art Gallery.

This year's Jurors, who will select the work to be part of the show and award recipients, include local professional artists Sasha Jimenez French, Jan Winton, and our Emerging Juror Sumera Khan.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You are:

• Over 18 years old
• A resident of one of the following areas:
  • The City of Kingston, Wolfe Island and the Frontenac Islands
  • The counties of Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, Leeds & Grenville, and Hastings
• Not a current KSOA Board Member, staff member, or Juried Exhibition Committee Member
• Comfortable selling any entered work and understand that KSOA will take a 20% commission should the work be sold. The WAG will facilitate all sales, and all work, even when sold, will remain in the gallery until the end of the show.

Your work is:

• Any two-dimensional media. We are excited to be accepting photography and digital art this year!
• Completely original. Not copied from, or demonstrated by instructors, or generated by AI.
• Created within 3 years of the 2024 Juried Exhibition.
• Not longer than 40", including the frame, on any side.

Your framing is:

• Professional and ready-to hang! "D" rings and taut wire placed not more than 1/3 from the top of the frame should be used. 
• Only gallery style canvases (more than 1.5" deep) are acceptable without frames and sides should be finished.
• Within the maximum size range. Pieces should be no longer than 40" on any side, including the frame.
  • Multiple panel works must be framed together (excluding pieces on gallery style canvases) and fall within the size requirements, or should be submitted as separate entries
• Clearly labelled. All works must be labelled on the back using official tags or with equivalent information (artists, title, medium, price, size).

The Jurors' decisions are final and will be based on artistic merit. The Juried Exhibition organizing committee and the Jurors reserve the right to decline any work deemed inappropriate or against the mission and mandate of KSOA.

ENTRY FEES

• 1 Entry is $30
• 2 Entries is $50 ($25 per entry)
• 3 Entries is $60 (only $20 per entry!)

Registration and fee payment is due by 13 September 2024 at midnight.

Additional entries can be added post-registration closure on September 10th, for $35 per piece. All pieces must be dropped off during the times specified below.

The Juried Exhibition & Show is the primary fundraising event for KSOA, and all proceeds will go to the school. KSOA is a non-profit charitable organization that provides cost-effective year-round art classes for children, youth, and adults, and offers studio-based hands-on instruction and practical artistic experiences. KSOA was founded to foster artistic innovation and individuality and to enhance the cultivation of art in our community. KSOA is governed by a local volunteer Board, and is run by a small office staff and Teaching Artists. Your entry fees will help KSOA's ongoing efforts to support artists and create a safe space for people of all ages to learn, grow, and explore art through various mediums and lenses!

HOW TO REGISTER

​Step 1: Fill out the Google Form

• Fill out the Google Form with all the necessary information and confirm your understanding of all the requirements
• The form also restates the payment information below for your convenience

​Step 2: Pay Your Entry Fees

• Fees can be paid several ways:
  • Online, through Amilia
  • Via e-transfer to [email protected]. Please put "Juried Exhibition 2024 - Name of applicant - number of entries" in the notes/memo
  • Cash or cheque dropped off at, or mailed to Kingston School of Art at 647 Princess St., Unit 101, K7L 1E4. Please include a note with the following information: Juried Exhibition 2024 - Name of applicant - Number of entries" on or with the payment so it can be properly registered!

Step 3:

• Ensure piece(s) is/are framed according to the requirements listed above, and includes "D" rings and taut wire for hanging.
• Print off, fill out, and affix artist labels or otherwise ensure the artist name, title, price, size, and medium are clearly visible on the piece.

Note: artist agreements and waivers will be signed at drop-off​ this year, so there is no need to sign anything in advance.

Delivery of Work for Adjudication

• All artwork must be delivered to KSOA/The Window Art Gallery (Unit 101/103, 647 Princess St., Kingston, On) during one of the following windows. If you are unable to make any of these times, please contact us at [email protected] . Please do not drop off art at the main office outside of these windows.
  • September 22: 9 am - 1 pm
  • September 23: 4 pm - 7 pm
  • September 24: 4 pm - 8 pm
  • September 25: 4 pm - 7 pm
  • September 26: 9 am - 1 pm
  • September 27: 4 pm - 7 pm
  • September 28: 2 pm - 5 pm

Notification of Selection

• You will receive an email notification communicating the juror's decision for each of your pieces on September 29, 2024 at 8pm.

Pick-Up of Un-selected Work

• All un-selected artwork must be picked up from KSOA (Unit 101/103 , 647 Princess St., Kingston, ON) during one of the following windows. If you are unable to make any of these times, please contact us at j[email protected].
  • September 30: 4 pm - 7 pm
  • October 1: 9 am - 1 pm
  • October 2: 4 pm - 7 pm

Exhibition Opens

• The opening reception will be held from 12 pm to 4 pm, with awards being presented at 1 pm, on October 5, 2024. There will be refreshments, a cash bar, and a series of raffle baskets

Exhibition Closing

• The closing reception will be held from 1 pm - 4 pm, with the People's Choice Award being presented at 2 pm, on October 26. There will be refreshments, a cash bar, and a series of raffle baskets.

Collection of Unsold Works

• All works that hang in the show but are not sold should be picked up from KSOA (Unit 101/103 647 Princess St., Kingston, ON) during one of the following windows. If you are unable to make any of these times, please contact us at [email protected].
  • October 28: 9 am - 1 pm
  • October 29: 4 pm - 7 pm
  • October 30: 9 am - 1 pm
